Dear AITO Colleagues

PRESIDENTS REPORT. 2007-08.
I am pleased to report that all the activities of the AITO for the financial year 2006-2007 have been successfully completed.

It is worth noting at this point that our financial year is from 1 October to 30 September each year.

Electronic Meetings
We are staying with having the Annual General Meeting electronically.

Whilst we accept the criticism that this does not allow some of our members to get together at least once a year, it also should be noted that with our membership spread across the whole of Australia, many of our members could not attend the AGM. This way at least everybody has an equal opportunity to participate.

Professional Development Course 2007
Thanks to Matt McDonell and Gary Greening and their teams for running another very successful Professional Development Course in Cronulla on the 26th, 27th and 28th August. It went very well.

Membership
It is very pleasing to note that we have seen a continued strong growth in membership during the year, from across Australia.

The majority of our members are still from NSW, however this majority is shrinking as more members join from other States - especially Victoria and Queensland.

Newsletters and Jobs on the Go
Our irregular reports on various Tourism positions that are advertised, continues to prove very popular with many of our members using this information to compare against their own salary and conditions.

There were 33 "Jobs on the Go" newsletters in the last 12 months

My personal thanks to those members who "fired" the positions in to me to send out - especially Kelly Hendry who is very generous in sharing this information .Thankyou Kelly - and congratulations on running another very successful Elvis festival

There seemed to be no end of positions being advertised and congratulations to our AITO colleagues who were successful in furthering their careers and secured new positions during the year.

Thanks to the Executive Team
I would like to express my appreciation to the Executive team who supported me in the efficient running of the AITO. In particular my thanks goes to

" Treasurer - Gary Greening
" Secretary - Les Moulds
" Vice President NSW - Rod Caldicott
" Vice President Victoria - Ron Mackay
" Vice President Western Australia - William Barry
" Vice President Queensland - Bob McAlister
" Training and Professional Development - Matt McDonell

Presidents Report- 2005

I am pleased to report that all the activities of the AITO for the financial year 2004-2005 have been successfully completed.
It is worth noting at this point that our financial year is from 1 October to 30 September each year.

Electronic Meetings
We are staying with the new ground we broke in 2002 and having the Annual General Meeting electronically.
Whilst we accept the criticism that this does not allow some of our members to get together at least once a year, it also should be noted that with our membership spread across the whole of Australia, many of our members could not attend the AGM. This way at least everybody has an equal opportunity to participate.

Membership
It is very pleasing to note that we have seen a continued strong growth in membership during the year, from across Australia.
The majority of our members are still from NSW, however this majority is shrinking as more members join from other States - especially Victoria.

Jobs on the Go
Our irregular reports on various Tourism positions that are advertised, continues to prove very popular with many of our members using this information to compare against their own salary and conditions. There were 38 "jobs on the Go" newsletters in the last 12 months.
Unlike this time last year the number of Tourism Jobs around Australia that have been advertised has slowed down in the last 3 months

Thanks to the Executive Team
I would like to express my appreciation to the Executive team who supported me in the efficient running of the AITO. In particular my thanks goes to

" Gary Greening - Treasurer
" Les Moulds - Secretary
" Matt McDonell and his team in Training and Professional Development
" Stuart Allardice - Public Relations and Membership

Membership and Public Relations Report
Membership
The AITO continues to show growth in its membership numbers over the last 12 months .This growth is a reflection of the continuing recognition of the role of the Tourism professional within the industry. AITO gives this growth sector of the industry a single and strong voice at a professional level within their organisations. The continued growth of AITO is based on a strong and active membership.

The membership of the AITO has achieved a recent high with 90 members.

This made up of NSW -77, Victoria - 10, Tasmania - 3, Western Australia -1. At this stage the organisation has a strong NSW membership base. However there are plans to mount a promotional campaign in the other states starting with Queensland and South Australia, to increase the membership of the organisation.

Public relations
There as been limited activity in this area during the reporting period. However press releases announcing the new management team at AITO. These releases where picked up by the regional press in Armidale, Inverell and southern NSW. Release where sent to all major trade papers. The release was also picked by Aurora Practical solution that manages the NSW VIC Accreditation scheme and placed on the AVIC web site.

Further press releases are plan during the year as the need arises.
