Congratulations to Fellow AITO member Gretchen Armitage on her new position as Manager Economic Development, Bathurst Regional Council.
In Gretchen ‘s own words – “Left Cabonne after 5 years to go to Bathurst Regional Council as Manager Economic Development. Having worked at Brewarrina, Wellington, Cabonne and Bathurst we are slowly working our way to the Coast! “
Gretchen is nothing if not economical with words. It should make a welcome change for the Councillors at Bathurst when reading her reports

Welcome to new AITO member Lea Turner. Lea is the National Sales and Marketing Manager for Cartoscope Pty Ltd, those wonderful people in Hornsby who produce the Cartoscope Maps. Where would we be in the Tourism Industry if we did not have maps to give to our visitors.

Congratulations to fellow AITO member Fiona Hatcher. Fiona is the Visitors Centre Manager at Nowra but will be taking up her new position as Executive Officer with Regional Development Australia (RDA) South Coast NSW very early in the New Year. What a great opportunity and career advancement. And given the importance of Tourism to the South Coast’s economy then I am sure we will not be losing Fiona’s skills to the industry.

And congratulations to fellow AITO member Jodie McKenna of Tamworth. After 18 years with Tamworth Regional Council and working on the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Jodie has had a career change in favour of getting a life. She will have her first summer holidays in 20 years and there might even be a trip to Ireland to see relatives. However I’m not sure how long this will last as she has already received job offers from the Country Music industry.

Congratulations to Carolyn Haigh

Congratulations to fellow AITO member Carolyn Haigh who took out the Major Award at the NSW South Coast Tourism Awards on Wednesday night the 12th August 2009.
Carolyn was the recipient of the Chairman's Award which is the most prestigious Tourism Award on the South Coast. It is only awarded at the Chairman's discretion and this is only the second time in the 14 year history of the South Coast Tourism Awards that it has been awarded.
Carolyn works on the administrative side of the South Coast Tourism Organisation in addition to her "day job" as the Secretary of the Tourism Section at Shoalhaven City Council.
Most of the work she does for the South Coast she does in her own time. She is the "working engine" that keeps the whole organisation ticking over. And she has been doing that for 14 years.
And it is a huge job with the South Coast Regional Tourism Organisation being the peak body looking after Tourism on the South Coast of NSW - an industry that brings in over $2 billion per annum to the Region's economy.
Good on you Carolyn - just recognition for an untiring job well done.
